If you’re flying into Perth, one of the first things you’ll want to know is: how much does a Perth airport transfer cost?
The answer depends on your destination, vehicle type, number of passengers, luggage and the type of transfer you choose.
For travellers looking for a comfortable and convenient airport transfer Perth service, a private pre-booked transfer can be an attractive alternative to waiting for a taxi or relying on rideshare pricing.
At Elegant Charters, airport transfers can be booked in advance with options ranging from comfortable sedans to larger people movers and minibuses. The company also offers fixed pricing, helping passengers know the cost before travelling.
What Affects the Cost of an Airport Transfer in Perth?
Several factors can influence the final price of your Perth airport transfer.
1. Your Destination
Distance is one of the biggest factors. A transfer from Perth Airport to a nearby suburb will generally cost less than a journey to Mandurah, Dawesville or Bunbury.
For example, Elegant Charters lists an estimated fare of $80 to Fremantle, compared with $145 to Mandurah and $350 to Bunbury.
2. Number of Passengers
Travelling alone, as a couple or with a large group can make a difference to the vehicle you need.
Elegant Charters offers several vehicle options, including 4-seat sedans, 7-seat people movers, an 11-seat Renault Master, a 13-seat Toyota Hiace and a 24-seat minibus.
For families and groups, booking one larger vehicle can be more convenient than arranging several separate cars.
3. Luggage
Your luggage requirements can also affect which vehicle is suitable.
If you are travelling with standard suitcases, a sedan may be sufficient. Larger groups with substantial luggage may need a people mover or minibus.
Elegant Charters also lists additional charges for excess luggage, bicycles, surfboards, golf bags and pets, depending on the booking requirements.
4. Meet-and-Greet Service
Some travellers prefer having a driver meet them at the airport rather than finding a vehicle after collecting their luggage.
Elegant Charters offers an optional meet-and-greet service where the driver meets passengers in the arrivals hall with a name sign.
Taxi fares work differently from many pre-booked private transfers.
Western Australia’s regulated metropolitan taxi fares include a flag fall and a per-kilometre charge, with different tariffs depending on the time and circumstances of the journey. For larger vehicles or journeys carrying five or more passengers, a higher tariff applies.
Passengers taking a taxi directly from Perth Airport also pay an airport fee. Perth Airport currently states that a $4.50 fee is added to taxi fares for pickups from the terminals.
This means the final taxi cost can change according to distance, time of day, traffic and waiting time.
Private Airport Transfer vs Taxi: Which Is Better?
Both options can be useful, but they work differently.
Taxi:
A taxi can be convenient when you arrive without a booking and want to leave the airport immediately. The fare is generally calculated according to the regulated taxi fare structure.
Private airport transfer:
A pre-booked transfer can offer greater certainty because you arrange the journey ahead of time. Depending on the provider, you may also have a fixed price, vehicle selection and meet-and-greet service.
For business travellers, families and visitors carrying several bags, a pre-booked airport transfer Perth service can make the arrival process considerably easier.

Meet and Greet
For passengers who want a more seamless arrival, a driver can meet them at the terminal and assist with luggage.
Is Booking a Perth Airport Transfer Worth It?
For many travellers, the main benefit of booking an airport transfer is convenience.
Instead of waiting in a taxi queue, navigating public transport with luggage or requesting a rideshare after landing, you can arrange your journey before your flight.
A pre-booked transfer can be particularly useful for:
- International visitors arriving in Perth for the first time
- Families travelling with children
- Corporate travellers
- Passengers with significant luggage
- Seniors who prefer door-to-door transport
- Groups travelling together
- Travellers arriving late at night or early in the morning
How to Get the Best Price for a Perth Airport Transfer
If you’re trying to keep your transfer costs under control, consider these tips:
Book in advance. Pre-booking allows you to compare options and arrange the appropriate vehicle.
Choose the right vehicle. A larger vehicle may be unnecessary for one or two passengers, while a sedan may not be practical for a large group with luggage.
Give accurate luggage information. Tell the provider about oversized items such as bikes, surfboards or golf bags when requesting your quote.
Compare the complete price. Don’t compare only the advertised base fare. Check whether airport fees, waiting charges, luggage fees or other extras apply.
Ask for a fixed quote. Knowing the price before your journey makes budgeting easier.
